Hi, I'm in the U.K. too and have an American DT175C which I think is the same as your 1G1.

Hello everyone,
I bought my first motorcycle today. A 1971 Yamaha at1-c. It’s kinda ratty, but it runs and has papers so I can register it for the road. I’m gonna spend some riding it in the yard and pick away at things that need fixing. The paint is awful, there are a number of “custom” mods that are poorly executed, and some worn items that need replacing. The tires are too knobby for practical road use, so changing them will be a high priority.
I am a machinist with access to all manner of metal working equipment, and am a fair mechanic and painter, so I will be executing all the repairs, upgrades and mods myself. I’ll post pictures tomorrow, and maybe start a thread that will document the improvements I make.
Thanks for reading

Hi, I'm Dave and should have posted here ages a go! Apologies to all concerned.
I'm UK based and have been rebuilding my American import AT1-B over the last 3 to 4 years.
It's a 1970 (now on a UK age related plate) and is ridden regularly when the weather permits. It always gets lots of attention whenever its out and about but the thing most people find fascinating is the electric start!

Hi Dave, I'm in the UK too.
Lovely looking bike. I think that shares the electric dyno/start system that I have on my RD200.
Whereabouts are you? I'm North Hertfordshire.

Hi Peter, I'm not familiar with the RD200 workings but I guess it uses the same Dyno set up with the four carbon brushes (two for starting and two for charging) took me a while to find those replacements at a reasonable price! seem to be more readily available now tho.
I'm in sunny Derbyshire ......Dave.

Welcome to the show Dave. I’m from Ohio, USA and run a 125 also. Nice example ya have there! One of the best looking 125s of the time. Borrowed a few bits from that year for mine. Great peppy engines for zipping around town and a great conversation starter. Then ya hook em with the electric start! Brushes cheapest out of Taiwan area, or so it seems.

Hi everyone! I'm in Northwest Colorado, USA. I just started ridding motorcycles 3 years ago and picked up 1.5 '72 LT2s (The half being that I got 2 rolling frames and 3 boxes of parts). This forum has been an amazing resource for a first time builder like myself. Also, finally got to hear her come to life again last night after the previous owner had it in his garage for the last 20 years. You can see my sweet gas tank hookup right now.
