No heated grips, I'm assuming. :ROFLOL
I recall riding my cousin's mid 60s Harley Sprint at times. It was set up with a right side, upside down shift pattern shifter. I remember well how it could add extra adenaline to a panic stop.

When I was a kid, one of my friends Dad had a DKW 125 which I think is very similar. His Dad was looking for new linings and I remember the brake shoes being riveted on which was common for Euro bikes of the day... even into the mid 70's at least. His Dad just wanted the new linings to rivet on himself... he thought it was a waste of money to buy complete new shoes.

Along the same lines, I remember my Uncle would buy a water pump "kit" that had a new shaft, bearings, and seals... or a "starter rebuild kit" with new brushes and bearings. Much cheaper than a complete new or rebuilt part. Today, it's almost impossible to get rebuild parts... you just replace the whole assembly.

Anyway, I don't know 100% for sure your shoes came riveted originally... but they might have. Another thing is the "NOS" shoes for those 125's I'm seeing have a closed end that goes over the anchor pin. With that design, you only need one spring. I suppose it's possible you have aftermarket shoes with an open end on the anchor pin and two springs?

EBC 812G is a set of shoes that fits some of the bikes... aftermarket with the open end anchor.

You might try calling someone like Matt at Speed and Sport in Nor Cal or posting the question in one of the Penton user groups?
