Thanks MarkT. Just got back from a half day ride. A few miles on blacktop then a few more miles on gravel and about 25 miles on mostly single track. Lots of rocks and woops, sandy sections, some roots. A good mix of terrain. Bike did good except its no fun in the gravel. Washbaord is very rough and loose gravel is quite squirrelly. Had a blast and somehow pulled off 57 mpg... seems high but im not complaining.

Got my new sprocket installed.


44 tooth compared to the original 56 tooth. Took it for a test ride to work and "the long way" home on some dirt... its way better on the road and about the same to better in the dirt. I will have to take it on the single track i did a while ago for a complete evaluation but i think the new sprocket is a winner!

So for all you carb tuning wizards out there who are still fallowing along... i need some help/ advice on tuning my carb. As far as i know my dt1 250 is stock with a stock jetted stock carb. I live at 3800, i ride from 3000 to 7000 feet elevation. Just off idle i have a miss and wot feels a bit flat. Over all the bike sounds good at all throttle positions exept just off idle. The plug is black but i have oil injection and premix still in the tank. Can anyone advise on what jets need changed or adjustments need to be made? Thanks

I desided it was time to replace my air filter. The old one was foam and on the edge of crumbling. This was inside the foam.


So i went down to the motoshop and got a piece of uni foam and cut out a piece and glued it together with right stuff.


Note the custom filter holder....

Went for a ride today. About 50 miles total and about 30 of it single track.

Left the house about 730am.
Got to the trailhead at 8.

We had a great time. The new rear sprocket worked out good. The only time i had trouble was the really steep rocky hill. I had to ride the clutch and dab a few times. Still need to get my carb squared away... and my front shocks are shot. They are leaking, i think the springs are loosing their strength and the rubber bumpers are gone. This all makes it so my front tire (now bigger that the old one) hits the rear fender bracket on hard hits. When this happens its like hitting the front brake full on. I went down twice on woops because of this.... i really need to make a new bracket before next trip.
