I love the look. I will be watching to see how long it holds up on your hard enduro events especially the swingarm.

Started working on the Engine Cases to get those cleaned up and prepped for New Bearings and Paint once the cases go back together.

I use Duplicolor Engine Enamel with Ceramic- DE1650 Cast Coat Aluminum. This paint is amazing and puts a really nice durable uniform finish on the cases and makes clean up on a daily rider very easy.
I really like the look it give the cases vs. the original rough metal look.

The New Bearings will be going in this week-end!
This will be the finished look when I get there again-

Well after some more elbow grease and scotchbrite pad work.... The metal is really cleaning up nice and is looking great.

Sooooo.... there will be no painting done on this one as the raw case really pops against the Gloss Black Powder Coat.

Boy frame and engine do look great, powder coating makes it have a wet look.
GFrench, from past experience spending a few days on a alkali dry lake beds can play havoc on bare aluminum, i.e. Cal Dreamin. Just a thought.

Have you thought about running a coat of 2K rattle can clear over your shiny aluminum bits? Didn't Yamaha do this in certain places like fork tubes and outside cases?

Another piece to the puzzle just arrived!

Thanks brother Scott for another amazing refurbish/service on my Curnutt Shocks! These shocks changed my bikes entire set up and performance they deliver not only suspension wise but the power they drive to the rear wheel is amazing.
Of course the Curnutt Red Springs just exemplify the Black Widow bike even more!

Looking forward to the week-end to start opening/digging into all the parts to begin the detail work of scrubbing, cleaning, polishing, painting- whatever is needed to get everything in new condition again.
Once that is complete will start bolting on the parts!

Will also be finishing the prep work on the cases and popping those in the oven to install the NEW "frozen bearings"!

A Lot of progress already made on the case clean-up.

Is this the bike that has the 1978 forks on the front? The reason I ask is that I have a set of those wonderful Curnutts as well and a set of 1978 forks. I believe the 78 forks are 1" longer than the 1971 forks so they should balance out the extra travel gained by the Curnutts. Have you also done anything with fork springs/oil that is different than factory?
