Thanks for falling on that grenade for us.
Some people just don't want to know the truth. I got fired from an orchestra once because I spoke the truth, but no one wanted to hear it.
(It's OK, though; I won the lawsuit.)

This chimes in with your other thread about being sure what you're actually looking for that I posted on.
Personally I found kellysbikeworld quite friendly and they cut me a good deal. However (and I might have posted this already), the RD350B complete front brake system that I bought from them turned out to be a Honda master cylinder and hose and RD400C caliper.
The guide that the hose went through was correct for the RD350, which therefore makes me think that the whole apparatus probably was taken off a RD350, but whoever dismantled the bike and listed it wasn't aware of the correct fitments. Exactly the point that you made elsewhere MACE.
I know from personal experience that some sellers can be very touchy about having their listings corrected, particularly here in the UK where knowledge of the US model bikes is sketchy at best.
Edit - sorry, should be read alongside MACE's post!

Deet and Enduronut could make a career out of finding and correcting these incorrect listings. But it would be hard collecting a paycheck for it. I greatly appreciate their efforts to date. The "original" 68 DT-1 fuel tank incident comes to mind. I consider doing this a service to us all including the sellers. Some just don't see it that way. I don't see all of them as dishonest. I just think it's a quality control issue. Thanks Devin for starting this with your post. I rarely sell on Ebay so I will no longer contact sellers. I will just consider it doing my homework. Buyer Beware. Good luck to all.

Well that was quite the ordeal. Glad you backed out of the sale, sounded like a cluster f**k.
Thanks Mark

If the deal sounds too good to be true it usually is, seller screwed up first off promising what he did, and no one in their right mind will drive 7-8 hours for gas and a cheeseburger only for a $300.00 sale.
On the flip side no one should expect some one to drive 7-8 hours for gas and a cheeseburger on a $300.00 purchase even if that was what was offered, in my opinion that is taking advantage of someone that may not be stable minded. If it is something you yourself would not be willing to do for someone you should not expect someone to do it for you.
His description of the bike doesn’t match his pictures, that bike doesn’t look like it runs as he says it does, obviously the guy is not playing with a full deck and that is probably why you are #5 on backing out. You probably saved yourself a lot of hassles and possibly a 7-8 hour trip for this numb nuts to probably not even show up.

Another turd to add to this pile: Saturday night at a little after 8PM PST I won an auction for a '74 DT175 from seller "lemotopdx." I paid his required immediate $250 deposit, then went about my night. I didn't check my eBay messages until yesterday AM, thinking dude has the $250, and I'll get in touch with him Monday AM. When I do, I see 3 messages: 2 asking when I'll pay the balance ($145), and the one at 6:31 PM PST where dude CANCELED the auction. He did not refund my $250
BLOCKED and Negative Feedback on it's way. I'll take the hit to mine, as I know the coward will respond in kind, but that's a hit I'm willing to take.

The auction price sure was good, to bad the deal went south.
Sounds like he didn’t get the price he wanted, should have had a reserve price.
Thanks Mark
