Hello,
My name is Richard, just turned 56 and live near Knoxville, TN. I have owned a few enduros in the past including 2 CT 2's a DT 3, and 2 RT 3's. Unfortunately, someone comes along who wants them more than I did at the time. I have regretted selling each one. However, come tomorrow, that is about to change. A good friend has a 68 DT 1 domestic that I have been after ever since he bought it. He has finally decided to let it go and I pick it up in the morning. It is complete, running, and with title. It is my intention to hang on to this one as I feel it is a rare find. Other Yamaha's in the garage include a 1978 XT 500, a 1978 RD 400, 1982 XS 650, and a 1959 YD2.

I think this DT 1 is a 8-10 footer and I am torn between restoration and preseveration. I am sure to be asking opinions after I get it home and get some pictures posted. Thanks for a great site and letting me be a part of it.

Thanks for the kind words on the site!

I am thinking this is the first time I have seen a sauna used to bake on paint on one of these bikes. It must be for a special "Finnish" . . . Ugh

Hi All,
Stephen from the wet coast of Canada, Powell River to be precise. Just recently riding again after all my kids left home and the grocery bill recovered. I have worked on motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats, trains and even planes. I presently have a 1991 DT200 and am tearing down to bolts just because I can't trust it until I do.
Awesome forum, good on ya!

Hello all,
Eric from Virginia, just outside DC. Like many others on here, had an itch from younger years that I needed to scratch. Recently acquired a pair of complete and not very rusty, CT3 175s, both not running right now, (although 1 seems to want to run), but they appear to be a good start, and a great winter project. My objective will be to get both running, although one could become a parts bike if needed. Been riding since my teens, lately mostly street bikes. The web site looks like a great resource for technical knowledge as well as others who have already been through this. Will post photos soon. Thanks

Hi
I'm from Lincolnshire in the UK, got a few bikes mainly Yamaha's (TY250 / DT175MX / DT2MX / RT2 / SRX600) and an old Ducati Monster.
Just found this site and looking forward to spending some time here.

Cheers
Tim

Welcome Tim!

Sounds like a nice collection of bikes! Post up some pictures please!

Is your DT175MX a street legal version? Or a motocrosser? (Here in the US "MX" stands for "motocross" but in the UK I believe is was used to designate the "monoshock" rear suspension.)
