No wonder the brakes are not so good on the stopping bike thing.
Not the worst I have seen, but not good either.

This should give the anchors some more bite. Clean up and paint the caliper & master cylinder, new braided brake line, pads and banjos.

Hello MrBernzo.
Got a sugestion for ya . Buy your self a bright nickle plating kit. If you have a rotary steel brush on a decent bench grinder , an half inch chuck 240 Volt drill and a vice, your laughing.
You see them there rusty nuts and bolts ,you can plate them .I've done hundreds and saved several hundred pounds on un necessary purchase of expensive nuts and bolts. When i get home in a few weeks ,i'll fire you some pics over for you to have a gander at.
Bikes coming on just fine mate, should be rip when it's done.
regards Ted.

Yes, there are many rusted parts on this bike. I am planning to replace most of them when I pull the bike down and powder coat the frame. Thanks for the tip on the plating kit. The kit looks quite expensive, around $400 to $500 here in Australia. Send pictures, I would love to see your set up

Search and ye shall find a thread on here I bet about home made plating on a shoestring budget. Maybe one of the guys (Scootern?) on here who does that sort of thing will post up a link to the thread in question.

When that job you expect to take half an hour takes a lot, lot longer.

Trying to replace the swing arm bushes but can't get the pivot bolt out.
It's frozen in place. The nut came off easy. Tried whacking it withe 3 hammer, each one bigger than the last. No joy.

The bolt head is round so I can't get a socket and bar on it to lever it free. The hole is the bolt head is not large enough to get anything in that won't bend..... Tried that already.

Any ideas?

Going to try to buy 2 thin 12mm nuts that it can lock together on the thread then try turning the bolt next.

Make a slide hammer out of 19mm bar and weld it onto the head. Generally works on stubborn bolts and pins if you have room .
