Forks are coming together, these are off an 1989 model dt200. The new springs are 0.7kg and I am adding gold valve emulators.
30mm spacer to shorten the length and a longer spacer for the top of the spring to account for shorter spring, valve etc.
1 leg done, 1 to go.
The forks are 100mm longer than the standard forks. With the 30mm stroke length reduction and 25mm smaller radius on the 19" rim + 25mm longer rear shocks, I should be getting close to the original geometry. Will adjust the fork leg position in the triple clamp if required for further change.

Front end is all back together, but now I have no spark......
Still some electrical gremlins to work out.

Thanks to RT325 the bike now has spark and runs.
I guess I am at proof of concept stage now.
Wheels have been built and fitted, suspension upgraded, later model front end fitted with disc brake, 12v conversion competed, 12v lighting working.
Now I know everything is working it's time to go through the wiring from front to back, check and replace any suspect connections, wires and insulation. Route all of the wiring properly and tidy it all up.
The plan is to get this old beast roadworthy and registered before I strip it down and get the frame powder coated etc.
Still to go before registration: speedometer, rear brake switch, new front brake line, fix front brake switch, front mud guard, hand grips, fit seat, sort out steering stops and possibly a baffle for the exhaust. Will also need to review carb jetting.

Glad you got spark! I was a little concerned because I'm pretty sure the stator coil doesn't just ground through the lighting coil but also shares in some of the lighting coil windings?
Great to see your progress!

Thanks Mark, this concerns me a little! I have not ridden the bike yet. I hope that it doesn't affect the performance.

First ride today & it rides well!
Started easily and idles well.
I let it warm up then clicked into gear and off it went.
Just a quick ride up and down the street. It selected all gears and delivered reasonable low end power.
It's a fresh bore and piston so I kept the revs and speed low.
Front brakes are shite & need bleeding. Back works well. Swing arm bushes need replacing.
Otherwise, it was fun to ride!
Still some work to be done before I can get this beast registered and on the road.
