Easy, i don't own 15 to 20 bikes like you and some of these other members! Lol! The most i have ever owned at one time is 6 and that was to many. My garage is good size, lots of room. floor is smooth and coated with something hard. easy to clean and mop up. Nothing bothers it. If i don't use something then i get rid of it so stuff doesn't collect and sit around. that's it.

Now time to go enjoy and ride the bike- get it dirty just like they were designed to do!

Or at least that is what I do- :)

Well, that's easier said then done around here where i live . I don't have the rocky mountains right outside my back door, nor do i have access to state land or riding area's here in lower Michigan. The only other option would be if i had some farm land or other land to have trails. Don't have either of them. You can drive to upper Mich ( about 2 to 3 hours) where there is all kinds of state land and trails. But up there you sure don't want to be caught on one of these old vintage enduro's!!

You will only get in the way and get run over by guys on there new modern WR's KTM's Husqvarna's ! The trails are pretty technical as well. Back in 2004 when i did go up north riding i rode this.

A 2004 YZ250F built especially for single track trails and fire lane roads. Special race tech suspension, seat, Pro Taper handlebars with bark busters for fast tight sandy trails. spark arrestor in pipe, etc etc.

Today, i am happy to just be able to cruise around the neighborhood on these Vintage Enduro's. I work about a mile away from home. I can ride it there when it's nice out. As for the RT3, it won't see dirt as long as i own it. I just spent 20 hours cleaning 40 years of dirt and grim off it. LOL! It's great that i was able to find it, admire it, ticker with it for a bit. Sit around with my friends in the garage and talk about the old days when we had these. Take a bunch of pictures of it for my picture album on my computer. Maybe take it to a Vintage bike show or 2 during show season, but eventually it will be sold hopefully to a good home and person that would really apprciate it for what it is.

If i make a few bucks in the process , great! I can use the money for the 72 DT250 rider project. I know right now i will be putting more money into the DT250 then i will ever get out of it!!

It was a beautiful fall day here in Michigan today. Rolled the RT3 out of the garage while i worked on the 72 DT250 all day. Besides doing my yard work. I was going to go for a ride around the neghborhood but lost track of time and it got late. In the next week or 2 i plan on taking a video of the RT3 starting and running and maybe on a ride.

I have stuff coming for the DT250 this week from all over the U.S. ! Cost is starting to add up. And this is not even a restoration!

Making progress on the DT250. 1st round of repairs almost done.

Had the gauges serviced by e-bay member VintageMT1. New faces and trip meter assembly. Sent my meters out to him. Had them back in less then a week from the day i sent them! I live in Mich, he's in Calif. I'm impressed with his service. Also included a D washer that i needed for free.

A couple of needed parts from Speed and sports. Your looking at $50.00 bucks sitting there!

So far this has beed done:

disassemble forks, clean, replace fork seals and oil.
install stock front low fender
New face plates and trip meter for gauges
remove dents in pipe, clean and paint
straighten handlebars
replaced all bulbs on bike (except headlight)
remove carb, replaced all o-rings and gaskets, needle & seat, set float level
replace oil injection cable
remove fuel petcock, clean & replace all seals
replace silver sleeve tail light wire harness
replace battery
replace air filter
replaced intake tube between carb & air bx
installed new NOS older DT1 exhaust hanger ( non rubber model)
replace all vent lines & routed correctly
adjusted horn
replace shift lever cover ( rubber tip)
replace rubber foot pegs
installed new tank band fitting 1 and 2
replaced multi screws and bolts.
In the process of replacing seat foam & cover

Next round:

new chain & sprockets
replace the rest of the cables
replace fuel cap 3 seals
new tires and tubes
replace noisey flasher relay ( it works)

much later plans:

Possible have all body work fixed & repainted, new graphics.
pull engine, replace all seals & gaskets
have top end bored next size over, new piston & rings ( if can be found)
replace all clutch plates

Never ends does it?

Thats a habit I wish I could aquire, (throwing stuff away) I'm not a horder, but I tend to keep too much good stuff. It pays off but at the cost of remembering just where...when I could have gone to hardware store (or wherever) & probably save'd time! Nice putts, garage is right out of Sunset Magizine!

Maybe you are already aware....I saw on another post....maybe Flip on his RT3 restoration...KDI makes the gas cap gasket set. I bought a set and wow can't tell from stock OEM! I completely filled my RT3 tank today and rode....absolutely no leaky. Hope this helps. Steve

Man, Made this video just in time Saturday. It started snowing Sunday thru Monday and we ended up with 8" of early snow! Then Tuesday it got down to 4 degrees here in my home town setting records for this time of year. Crazy weather! Puts a hold on everything. Anyway's here is a quick 4 min video of the RT3 360 Enduro. I know, i am asking for trouble starting it with tennis shoes on but it starts good. I have not touched the engine since i have owned it. Runs that good. "Hum" maybe i should at least look at the sparkplug?? Is there a way to tell if it's the original one?

The bike is officially up for sale now. Most likely will list it on e-bay in the next week or 2. Bike will come with a clear Mich title in my name, original owners manual, original tool kit, both original ignition keys, original smaller steering lock key and Michigan historical 1973 license plate with the numbers '360" on it. Yes the mirror, passenger pegs and turn signals are the original items that came on the bike new.

Enjoy

Sky dancer, I have a couple of NOS front fenders in my stash I'm getting ready to sell. Not sure if I have all the attaching brackets or not but if you're interested, I can look.
