Hope we're not getiing wires crossed in terminology like hub-basket & center--center of the basket is cast & hub is alloy. Sometimes i call the hub the center but trying not to here. #2 is the flat bearing but the washer that's part of it sits against the side were looking at in the drawing even though its not drawn as such. I guess they had to show the rollers just because its a bearing. So the fat washer is what protects the rollers from the alloy hub & thing washer thats part of bearing protects bearing from cast steel piece. Is the nut stepped at all as thought it'd need to be or there'd be a hell of a fine line between nut tight against shaft end & compressing the splined washer along with the hub & all right through--but leaving the basket to revolve--or hub to revolve depending if ya standing on your head. I'll find a bearing pic.
Ok, random ebay pic. Thin washer at the back is part of bearing at the front. Can see where rollers were running on the fat washer. Small fat washer will be from way way at the back against the case bearing which spacer & everything right through tightens agains--with running clearance for basket on the spacer.

Found a pic of the stepped nut so steps over the shaft. Could there be something doing on like the final drive sprocket nut has been substituted although both need to be stepped. How about crank nut, that should be flat so what's on there?. Just trying to pull a rabbit out of the hat without much luck. Nut pic is listed as Clutch nut AT--CT etc.

The washer that goes with bearing comes with bearing and is thin.  It's not a part you buy separate.

Well, this is interesting. If these two come as one part number then the 174-16154-00-00 would be the other thrust bearing. I looked at this number on ebay and it sure looks like it would be too thick to set on the collar # 90387-20439-00. The bearing and shim washer just fit as it is. I will try and put some pics up tomorrow. I also have a core motor in the basement I could tear into and see what it has in it. It had a std. bore jug on it so maybe the clutch hasn't been messed with and will have all the original stuff in it. Thanks for the help. D

Clutch nut is stepped as the picture shows. Haven't pulled the counter shaft nut. Crank nut is correct.

Ok, so are you saying--or feeling--the step on the nut isn't coming hard against the splined washer--too much shaft protruding & nuts bottoming on the shaft.

I don't think you understand yet as you keep saying "not enough room".  You should have the washers and bearing RT325 pictured.  I'm pretty sure washer in pic on left goes on LAST and DOES NOT go over spacer.  Inner hub tightens against that washer.

If you don't have that washer, that's your problem.

So once again, thick washer with small OD goes on first...  then tall spacer/bushing...  then outer hub...  then thin washer (part of bearing)...  then flat bearing...  then final thick washer (bearing and thin washer fit over spacer, final thick washer does not)...  then inner hub, washer and nut.

It would help a lot if we could see a picture of what you have...  we're flying blind and trying to help as best we can.  My memory is not always that great and Yamaha changed the arrangement over the years a few times so much easier to remember when seeing parts.

Yes, the nut is not touching the toothed washer. Pics after I get the lawn mowed.
