Nut and washer. Note the recess. Now it all goes together and spins
freely like it should. Waiting on the friction discs and the oring and I
Should be able to finish assembly of this side and turn the bike around
on the table and finish up the mag side. Wish I could have made this
more compact, but not confuser smart enough.

So are you saying that the washer that comes as part of the bearing can be purchased in different thicknesses. That's news to me but good news if that's the case. Can see how that would give necessary clearance on the spacer but not something i was aware of??. Or am i reading it wrong.

The washer that comes with the bearing is a fixed size. The one that was screwing me up was the washer that
goes behind the basket that the collar butts up against. It is one mm thicker than the outer washer that protects
the inner basket from the flat bearing. That inner washer spaced the collar out and cleared the retainer and with the
collar spaced out it holds the washer away from the flat bearing enough that it doesn't bind it between the inner and
outer washers.
What kind of adhesive did you use on the big o ring on the back of the basket?

The big Oring Stretches over the gear & drops into the space between gear & basket therefore giving a rubbery damping feeling to the basket & stopping chattering at idle where it tends to flick back & forth against the built in basket rubbers you can't see.

I'd better keep out of it but just one more poke. Thick small washer at the back & thick big washer at the front have no direct relevance to clearance needed by the spacer to let the hub revolve. That's entirely related to the stacked height from the back of the basket kick gear & measuring to the flat bearing--so you have about a mm of spacer protruding so hub can revolve. If she's working then you're on a winner. Cheers.

I am enjoying the exchange of ideas on this. Not trying to prove any point.
It just seems to feel better now that I have all of the correct washers in the
correct place. I was posting the measurements on the washers and locations
for people that may run into this in the future, or maybe getting into this
repair area for the first time with a bike that had not been repaired properly.
I know that you have "been there, done that" on these bikes.
