Thanks for the help, actually just after posting for advice I pulled the tacho and disassembled, problem was some oil or clear grease inside had become sticky and jelly like. With a cotton swob I cleaned it and applied very light sewing machine oil, clear and very thin to the different points of the centre spindle. I flicked it around for a while and it got snappier. Note - the yellow and black wires go to the main beam high beam (not to the yellow indicator)

Front tire is exploding too, don't know how much longer I can hold on to these. I thought I could try and wear them out before they wore me out, but looks like they just wont hold together much longer, even with the tag ties.

I discovered another great thing about the DT125, you can get a good kick in the head from Bruce Lee, lol

How crazy is this, you could buy a brand new DT125 aircooled monoshock in 1978 and you can still buy a BRAND NEW DT125 aircooled monoshock in 2025!

Great find... looks like maybe the "Yamaha Brazil" models of the DT125 and DT175 are back?
(The USA got a "trail bike" in the 1990's based on the South American DT... they called it the "RT180" here... it's very similar to the street legal DT175 we got in 1980-81 and even uses some of the same parts.)

Yes, same bike new graphics, going to make a lot of teenagers very happy and keep the world moving along. Maybe replacement parts will be more easily available too! (actually I was interested to see how much difference there is in the cylinder between the DT and IT models). What did RT stand for? Rough Trail, Royal Trail, Ripping Trail, Rapapapaap Trail, Road Trail...?
