If it moves and shouldn't , use duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use liquid wrench.

Right, the fuel mixture tends to pass-through the plastic tanks. So the only type of decal that works would be the ones offered by "Wicked Tough". I had an It, and went through the decal issues. I was just stated Speed and Sport offer the products, and offer the on line installation videos.

They are great looking decals, and I'm looking forward to actually having good looking decals. You can see how good they look on the restoration GFrench did on his white IT490.
When I bought the IT in 1991, they were already shot.
I'm NOT looking forward to getting the 30yr decal remains off the tank however,,,,
I'll try the hot air method and see how it goes.

Tonight after dinner, the wife was tired and fell asleep on the couch, so to the man cave I ventured!
Tonight's goal was to get the exhaust system in place and adjusted, and it went pretty smoothly.
The new black BBQ/Stove paint looks great, but we'll see after the first dusty ride,,,,,
I figured I might as well get a new plug in , so in went the NGK gold palladium BR8EV
Here's what the Blue Bomber looks like after tonight - I can almost smell the Golden Spectro 32:1 coming out the exhaust,,,,
Once the new Wicked Tough decals get here next week, I'll start that party.
Happy President's Day tomorrow!

Pony Express delivered the new Wicked Tough decals today, so now that process can be worked on.
Also, I'd like to repaint the yellow on the side panels to refresh their look, so I started sanding them to either get the paint off, or at least rough up the surface for better adhesion. The going is rather slow, so I'm not sure if I can get all the yellow off or not. Any suggestions from the peanut gallery?? I'm all ears,,,

I am glad you are figuring this out because I have the same problem with the yellow on my 81 IT465. I bought crappy decals and need to redo them with the decals you have. Keep making progress reports- it is very helpful.

I wonder if there is a plastic-safe paint stripper??
I can't imagine that the hot air method would work on paint like it does on decals.
Hmmmm,,,,,

Decals came off with a razor blade scraped off, not cut. Paint stripper will melt the plastic. Try dragging a new razor blade across the decal area,Not sure about the paint. I Imagine a razor blade might work on the side covers also- just have not tried it yet.
