No Yamahas on this ride, just a couple vintage trials bikes. My son and I out trail riding at Reiter Foothills in WA State.

Stopped for photo opp, Newcastle CA, Folsom lake in the distance.
I was having surging and slight detention just off idle. Came home cleaned the carb, put the correct plug in (B9ES -opps), lowered the needle one clip. Way better now.

Some bad luck with route-finding on outdated maps, and some good sights. I'd have taken the cabin to be older than 1920.
Sierra Pacific Industries decided they didn't want this USFS road connecting to theirs.
Washed out bridge is a bit too much, even for the Serow.
Roaming in the far northern end of California.
Love finding these out in the woods.
'06 XT225 is at 3k miles after this ride. Picked it up with 1,800 on it. Problem free so far, a very enjoyable bike to ride if not look at, in my opinion.

I agree with you about the Serow. Long ago a buddy of mine was being stationed overseas for a couple years and he asked if I would store and ride his bikes while away. One was a Serow and the other was a DR350. The Serow won the comparison test hands down. The DR was one of the early years and it did nothing for me. The Serow was a blast to thread thru the trees. This photo shows his bikes along with my family and our Hondas. I used to be an XR guy.

I'll work on it, was hoping to use Google maps as I have some experience with it for creating a series of directions but it doesn't have a lot of the obscure roads.

Slept on how to make the map last night. Short story, it's the blue area on the map and email at the bottom for details if desired
All the recent stuff is from the "Trinity Divide" a ridge running North-South between the Sacramento and Trinity River, just west of I5 between Redding and Weed. Historically all the water on the east side of the ridge flows into the Sacramento Delta while everything on the west flowed into the Trinity, then the Klamath and the ocean near the Oregon border. The bulk of the Trinity is diverted into Whiskeytown Reservoir and Sacramento Valley irrigation from, there, as far south as Fresno. Anyhow there essentially a main gravel road which runs on the west side of the divide from "Stewart Springs Road" in the north to, well, somewhere down by Redding in the south, I have not ridden the full extent of it and the southern portion burned in the Delta Fire in 2018 and most the roads in that section are back in service, but the scenery is not particularly pleasant, thus all my riding has been in the north half. There are spur roads off it all over, some going all the way down to I5 on the east or the Trinity/Highway 3 on the west. Like too much of the western USA it's an awkward patchwork of alternating squares of public and private land from the old railroad days, dividing the land like that was a terrible idea. As a result some of the nicer destinations (lakes ect) are on private land, a few single land owner, most logging corporation ownership. As a result some still have access, some don't, and many are a little tenuous. I'm happy to share what I know, but think that a public forum posting of details could endanger some of the access; so feel free to email me and I can provide details about the various loops I've been putting together...not sure why riding a loop is so much more rewarding than out and back?
