One of the best and worst rides in the same day. The first half was bliss, a long climb onto dirt roads and eventually an old jeep track with great views. Technical riding that made me wish for a trail sprocket at times.


It's a great feeling when you can see the trail in the background like this... Mt Lassen way off on the top right.


As the trail descended things got progressively worse and some sections would have been extremely challenging to ascend. This tree took some time and a lot of energy to get the bike over, should have had a handsaw on the rack.


I've used the Strava app for mountain biking, and recently started using it set it to Electric Bike for adventures on the old enduros, and save the outing in a private mode so the info doesn't mess with statistics for people who are electric biking. I love the speed vs elevation overlay graph.


As elevation dropped below 4,500' the brush got progressively denser. Soon there were stretches where the trail was invisible, just had to ride through the week spots, terrible riding. I learned you can ride through brush too thick to walk through. Two miles of hell later, and a steep skid track leads down to a logging road. 500 feet of terror or several more miles of bushwhacking? After 450' of slowly negotiating/sliding down the skid track I hit the front brake too hard and the front tire slipped out, dropping me over the front to roll onto the logging road. One quick roll for the poor girl but she somehow escaped unscathed, got lucky on that one.
