Replied by s900t8v on topic yamaha 5LT Restoration

Well several years passed.

i ended up reprimjng the tank as the orange was too orange. Was going to paint factory colour but in the end didnt do it. So just reassembling it now to sell.

mechanically it’s top and bottom rebuild with some nos parts.

the before. Turned out the crank seals were of course bad and the smoke issue didn’t get much better it was very boggy and wouldn’t perform well.

tanks been re cleaned with phosphoric acid and metho. Carb and small run through ultrasonic. Have ordered a few more smalls and a gear lever NOS.

Oil pump carb etc all adjusted.

identified a missing spring in high low selector and have a new spring on order (was missing at tear down) and I bought a nos spring for it for but it was the wrong one.

Finally now found the correct spring for it.
