Replied by the bobster on topic 74 dt125: First Attempt At A Restoration-resto mod.

Do you recall the initial carb screw settings? Air screw is 1.5 out but I dont know the idle screw setting. I have the 1975 version of this bike.

Not so much of a setting there as in 1.5 turns, etc. that screw contacts the slide, so it’s variable. The manual specifies 1300-1400 rpm if I remember correctly. I’m just on the coffee now. Good luck!

Awesome build!! I’m hoping to do something similar and restore my 125. Was also wondering what tires you’re running on it

Thanks! It was a first time project for me. It’s whats possible with the knowledge gained here. And money. Lotsa nickels and dimes. For tires, I just put Shinko 241s on it. Probably the most inexpensive tire available for these. 2.75x19 and 3.50x18.

Awesome! Thank you! I’ve been looking for tires for about a week and wasn’t sure what would fit on it

Just for shitsngiggles I replaced the positive side battery wire today with a well made replacement and for once the electric start worked first try on a cold motor. Well, as cold as it’s going to be in the high 80s. But replacing that 46 year old wire, one of few left, I believe made a difference.
It’s mostly been just riding this one for the last 2 years and fixing little things. The front fork rebound is getting notchy (?), so I’m going to try changing the oil, but I don’t think that’s it. Not sure what it is though.
Noticed yesterday that I’d thrown a sprocket bolt on my rear hub. Had to snatch one from the next bike in line and retorque all the others. That seems to be this seasons lesson. I need to check bolts and nuts for proper torque as I’ve had things come loose from time to time. The head nuts are the worst offenders.

Thanks for even more motivation for me - I've been working on mine little by little and just about gave up on it, but the new member Hondarider on here is rebuilding the engine. Looking forward to getting it rolling!
