Restoration Update;

The last piece of the puzzle is in. I got my good tank back from my brother in California. We were successful the second time around since directions were read and followed before :Buds this time. For a backyard tent paint job, it turned out really good! Both tanks painted 3 years apart match each other, different lot of clear and all. Think we might’ve had different beer too..... All in all, it came out solid. I’m definitely upside down on the investment, but that’s before factoring in an education in enduros, restoration of every bit, reassembly, and tuning. 3 garage vacations in Southern California too. Oh, I got my motorcycle endorsement on it too.
So next up is a freshening of my exhaust and it’s done done. Then on to finish my mechanical refurbishment of a pile of a/b parts into an every day rider in the form of a 75 Dt125b and then a 73 rt3 barn find in need of a motor overhaul.

Nice job!

My first motorcycle was a 72 DT125. I was 14 and lived on that bike.

Thanks for the replies! I’ve ridden it around and to work whenever possible the last two years. Trouble free when the monkey turns the wrench til it’s tight. :Ugh

Thank much! There’s a lot of bikes that have been shown on here by others that have given inspiration. Many fine craftsmen among us. KennyV, from looking into the background of your pics, I’d say you have a good eye for classic bike designs and have kept them, or gotten them back into, nice shape.
The only thing I have left from a BFA in graphic design is a critical eye and an urge to tweak things that are already almost there. Many designs of things, guns, motorcycles, cars, trucks, etc, come up just a bit short. Like a compromise was made due to production or component supply or period styling, or government requirements. Just need to tweak it. Then it feels done-or complete to me.
As to graphic design, I didn’t mesh with the work environment so I went railroading. Better fit.

PS. Anybody else see the post on Facebook of the guys rt2 with what he figure to be 45,000 miles?

The last part of the puzzle. Cleaned up the last bit of rust on the exhaust pipe with naval jelly. I think the jar was as old as the pipe. Done more as a curiosity than anything. It did a thorough job. Now to reassemble my paint booth.....
