I’m pretty sure the gas tanks are shaped differently between the 75 and 76. At least they are on my DT175B and C. The 76 tanks are more wedge shaped as opposed to a more rounded shape on the 75. I love my DT125B.

Hi Schu!
Now that I've made a decision and committed to purchase the DT125B that was offered, I'm very excited and anxious to take delivery. Unfortunately, it will be FRIDAY before that can happen.
Assuming my new DT125B will reward me with at least the same level of riding pleasure as when I rode Wild Child's AT3, then I'll love it. AND, it will have a taller seat height to boot!
Come on Friday.
In the meantime I need to get the '72 CZ 175 Trail that's on my lift stand put back together enough so it can be rolled off to allow the DT125B to go on the lift for check-over and servicing.
All fer now!

Hey V Man I would change out your brake shoes they can and have come delaminated it could be a disaster if you go flying over your handlebars. I’ve had a rear happen before I rode my CT1C

Hi Ht1kid!
About 20 years ago I had that happen twice on old bikes going on their first ride! Both were Zundapp's (a '71 and a '72) I had just got running.
One was the front, but thankfully, it snapped the shoe instead of wedging and thus didn't pitch me.
The second was a rear, but no damage to the shoe nor did it lock up either.
Still an eye opening and pucker-inducing experience!

Yes, the bike will go onto the lift table and get a good going over. Gearbox oil will be changed as well as the oil tank drained, cleaned, and refilled with Yamaha injector-type oil. I also figure the air filter is crumbly, too. (Though the owner said he was surprised that the air filter looked new.)
Lots of things to check out before venturing out on it.

Congratulations!
Just curious on your seat height comment... seat height is not a spec that Yamaha published very often on the early bikes. How did you determine the DT125B has a taller seat height than an AT3?

It should be within an inch of a '76 DT125C, which is something like 32" that I read on some spec sheet I saw "somewhere". My Zundapp and DKW are both at 32".
Also, the seller is 6' tall w/34" inseam and standing flat foot, the lowest part of the seat is up to his crotch. His dimensions compare favorably with mine which is 6'1" w/33" inseam. With Wild Child's AT3, I had a lot of gap under my crotch when I would stand flat foot while astride it.
Come Friday, we shall see!

I'm just curious... the 1974/1975 MX125 and YZ125 back then had a seat height of only 31.5 inches. It would seem odd for a 1975 125 enduro marketed to smaller riders having a higher seat than the race bikes?
Odd but not impossible.
I think the earlier AT/CT seat height was right at 30 inches... I'll have to go out and measure.
The reason I'm asking is I never really noticed any seat height difference between the "first generation" AT/CT series and 74-76 125/175. I have versions of both. When I get on my later model XT250 with a seat height of only 31.9 inches, I definitely notice seat feeling taller.

Well, I may be mistaken. It could be I read 31.5" for the '76 and my mind rounded it up where I wanted it to be: 32". Given the '75 DT125B has a 19" front and the rear shocks are not as forward mounted as the '76, it could be my '75 may sit lower than I hoped. (Hoping for at least 31") If so, I'll decide what path to take, if any.
I studied pics of a '75 compared to a similar pic (same general angle/etc) of Wild Child's AT3, and I "think" I see more space between the top of the rear tire and the bottom of the fender on the DT125B. Also, it appears that the DT125B may have longer shocks. Another point my eyes think they see is the DT125B as having more ground clearance than the AT3, and finally, it looks to me it has a taller saddle.
I created a composite pic of the AT3 and DT125B and tried to attach it here. Hopefully that will work and you can view it to see if your eyes interpret it differently.
EDIT: I don't see the attachment anywhere. Darn.

Yamaha specs are not the best... I've seen ground clearance spec of 8.9" and 9.1" for the 1973 model. The magazine test I found also said 9.1...
1974 and 1975 model is shown as 9.1" ground clearance...
So not much difference, if any, in ground clearance spec from 73 to 75 if those numbers are correct.
