Tis amazing what's hidden out of sight isn't it. Be quite interesting to be a fly on the wall when they're designing these thing to understand their reasoning. Reasons for having all that crap. Why not just a chamber thick enough to not resonate & then a spark arresting muffler on the end.

Well that brought the bike to life! Specially at the top end.
I think I will leave it there for now with the exhaust and just get the jetting right to suit the better air flow.
Here is it poorly welded together. Need some more time with the grinder and welder to make it look passable.

Did you weld it with a Mig. I bought one from Super Cheap Autos months ago in NZ & just unboxed it yesterday. Cost under $200 & is just a gasless flux core wire cheapy. I can Arc weld most anything except exhaust of course with my old arc but hoped this will do thin stuff. Starting to think I shoulda bought a Tig with Gas. Might give in & go hire oxyacetylene bottles as i have all the gas welding gear. Got too expensive as BOC GAS stopped filling owner bottles so can only rent them although can also hire for a short term so need to line up all my jobs.

Welded with a mig. I don't have a grass bottle so its set up to weld gasless. I would love to try with gas but can't justify the cost right now. Bunnings is Aus will rent a bottle permanently to you for $300 now and then $99 to swap for a full bottle any time you need to. I might try that.

I went looking for this welding stuff, as I don't have any.. There was a vid were a guy used a stick welder and applied a mig set up to it..
Done lotsa wire feed with flux core for metal studs and HM door frames.. It does stick the stuff together...

Well that's it for the exhaust mods for now.
now I can finish this bike off. Only a full strip down, frame blast and powder coat, then put it all back together again.
Thats bound to take me another year or so.
