RZ 250 expansion on a 1974 DT 250 was created by MrBernzo

I have read about RZ expansion chambers being used on DTs but have never seen any images of them.
Does any have any examples or experience of fitting one up? I know that modification will be required but unsure how much.
Also unsure about how it will affect the performance of the bike.
I have my eye on a set of RZ 250 chambers and don't know if I should fork out the cash for them or not.
I would appreciate it if you have any pictures and/or experience!

Yes i had one on my RT1 to ride to work & was probably the same pipe i used on my RT2 with an RT2MX top end. Had to modify the front bend a bit to get it on the & had it bolted up solid not a slide fit like earlier models so was well sealed. Had it rubber mounted at the other mounts on the way back. Strange what works at times when shouldn't in theory. Also it was the Right Side pipe i used. Was in the days before digital easy photo cameras so don't think i would've taken any back then on a film camera.

.If you are looking for more performance, contact member Dave Meis on this site. He does a pipe mod for these bikes, using your stock pipe, that is nothing short of amazing. It will wake your 250A  up nicely. I have one of his sleeper pipes on my 250A .

Thanks, I would love to do a sleeper pipe but sending pipes to and from Australia is expensive.
I am not searching for added performance (although it would be nice). I only ride this bike on road, it's more for looks than anything else.

The RZ pipe that RT 325 was using would have been for Australasian market .
US RZ OEM pipes are significantly different , and carry a catalytic converter internally .
Just pointing out , your results may vary .

Blimey--catalytic converter. Hell i got $90 from the scrap metal man for my car muffler with one in. I'd knocked the insides out of another before i took them both in & wished i hadn't haha. The rest of the trailer load wasn't worth what that one muffler rewarded me.

Well I pulled the trigger today and ordered the RZ expansion chambers and mufflers. Should have them in a week or so. I will report back on how works out.

Just curious . Are you buying the stock exhaust system  pipes .
Expansion Chambers are aftermarket tuned exhausts .
I have run into people incorrectly describing the stock exhaust pipes as Expansion Chambers , which they are not .

Buying the stock pipes.
What's the difference between them and expansion chambers?
I know the DT exhaust is not a true expansion chamber, but I thought the RZs were.
