What are the differences between the 74 DT250 and the 74 DT360 besides the obvious motor size?

I have a chance to buy a 250 for a good price, it has sat in a shed for 20 years, looks good, owner says it ran when they put it in the shed.

"Ran great when parked" is kind of a standing joke along with "needs carb cleaned"

If it's not running now, keep that in mind. It could be simple... or it could need major work.

Ran when parked example from the Internet:

I get that, i would suspect nothing less than a fuel system cleaning, brakes, probably a chain, and normal maintenance items.

I was in jest, of the ten or so motorcycles that have passed through my hands, the clean looking "ran when parked" ones have typically needed some of the least work done to them. Previous owners can be something else sometimes...

I think with the 360 having CDI with known weaknesses (I've read that the 250 points set up was retro fitted to a lot of bikes) and the decompression valve needing an eye kept on it, the 250 might be an easier bike to live with.

I prefer bikes that are complete and appear to have been stored well that the owner has not messed with recently.

I've also come across bikes that don't run or don't run well that the seller expects top dollar for because "it ran great when parked" and "probably only needs the carb cleaned".

You have to use your judgement and instincts...
