MarkT, yes it was and still will be as long as I can keep it up on both wheels. I try not to think about the possibility of a spill on, the bike especially since there is so muck rock out this way, little dirt, but a bunch of rock, crushed, big ,round, teensie, but all rock.

I have just one more fresh post for the MX.... since this is still on the fixer upper spectrum.  I have been sorting out the issues with the rear brake adjustment. I have already once removed the arm on the drum and moved it, so I had more room for adjustment on the brake rod. I was needing to do it again, so I resolved to remove the rear wheel again, remove the brake rod from the lever and rotate the lever another notch or 2 on the cam. Looking everything over, I noticed the connector to the brake pedal was in a position that looked like I could do this much simpler by removing the peg- actually pegs since I wanted to raise them anyway, so my foot is better situated for the brake while riding off of the seat. I found myself in a situation where the pedal was over my foot and not under it like I thought, and it wasn’t there when I needed it most…. Thank the Good Lord I managed to stop with the front brake without it locking up.

.Anyways, that’s why I am raising the pegs. Back at the brake itself. After the pegs were off, I removed the brake pedal, loosened the adjustment nut on the end of the brake rod and pulled the arm forward to reposition the shaft to reset the brake pedal. Did so and released the brake arm on the drum and the brake lever goes up in the air so the end for my foot is way higher than ever before.

Then I realized the only thing that kept the brake pedal from doing this before is the use of an off the shelf metric bolt that holds the pedal on. That acted as a pedal back stop. I figured there was supposed to be something on the frame that was supposed to do that, but this is what I found according to the first picture at the time…. there was nothing to see, no remnants, nothing.

So, I put it all back together and let the oversized off the shelf bolt do it’s thing for a while longer until I figure this out.Looking at it again when it is all in place, the brake pedal/rod connection in a better situation, I looked at the brake pedal arm once more, then I seen it. At the time there was something welded there acting as a backstop, weld spatters are all over the area, but no longer there. I cleaned it up with a grinder on a Dremel tool so it would be a little closer to be ready for repair. This won’t happen until this winter, but my OCD kicked in and could not help myself.

So to make my long story a little longer, any of you guys out there that have a bike with the same frame whether it be another 73 MX250, 360, or maybe an SC500, or perhaps even the DT line have the same frame, that you could snap a picture of the brake pedal stop, and post it for me....please???

Looks like you're still having all the fun. Just be careful with the arm stop because if you have it set too far forward with a long adjustable stop screw or bolt, you can end up with the arm bumping into the back of the engine case just when you need to do a hard stop & if the rod adjuster is set for a lot of pedal travel.

With the brake adjusted the way it is now with the lever off the pedal more vertical, instead of laying almost flat, the brake pedal has a LOT less travel compared to when I first put it back together. I may need to reset the pedal at a lower angle to get it to be in the right spot while I am on the pegs.

With the engine case "right there" I see what you mention could be a real problem

Great stuff. Good to see a bike like that getting a bit of stick.
