1970 DT1C 250 - Correct Front Fork Oil Volume

Hello,

I would appreciate some help with the following:

My DT1 service manual which is a reproduction manual says the front fork volume for a DT1 is 175cc for each fork of 10W/30 oil where as another DT1 spec I found says each fork takes 207.28cc of 10W/30 oil.  Which one is correct? Thanks

Don't take this as gospel but i thought mine was 193cc in my first model steel slider type forks. But after we did some trick damper mod back in 1969 that we read about in a US mag, 'motocross action or something' it said reduce it to 175cc [by memory from 53 years ago haha.

Syd . My DT1C manual recommends 210 cc for each leg .

Just to confuse--my july "70 first edition DT1E service manual shows alloy slider forks & it appears that the alloy sliders had oil reduced to 175cc of 10/30. So what sliders does OP have?, steel or alloy because that makes the difference. All models with alloy, late DT1 Dt2 Dt2mx Dt3 show 175cc.

Thanks Morley . I hadn't checked the DT1 E specs , but had wondered if the discrepency related
to the differences between Steel and Aluminium sliders . Syds bike is actually a C with Steel sliders .

Yes i wonder if the difference is partly [or totally] because the steel sliders have oil inside & outside the stanchion & using a bush top & bottom so more room to fill with oil. Whereas the alloys have the stanchion sliding totally in the alloy so less room. Something like that. Ok, so Syds has steel. All good. Thanks.

Great, thanks for the info - also just found an original Yamaha Enduro service manual covering all the models and this also confirm 210cc is the correct amount in each fork
