Cheers Tinkicker.
You said they did a good job on your DT, which together with price, was why I chose them.

A blustery ride to collect a load of parts today.
Hubs and brake plates vapour blasted, footrest powdercoated and loads of bits plated.
Very happy with the results and £100 is a very fair price.
Now I can build my wheels

Thanks T1.
My father was a farmer and back then you needed to fix things yourself and I have that same mentality.
I was tinkering with bikes from a very young age and motorbikes and cars from about fifteen.
I've always been interested in how things work which is probably why I became an engineer.
I once heard "if it's made by man, it can be fixed by man" (or words to that effect) and it's stuck with me.
There are plenty of members on this forum with greater skills and knowledge than mine, but the great thing is, they are all willing to share and help.
Half of the challenge of working on these great bikes is having the willingness to give it a go.

Finally, a new part that cost me nothing more than an hour of my time.
The aluminium (aluminum) tube was a scrap flue from an old boiler.
I've seen it done on here before with the bottom of a coke can, but when I played with that idea before, I found the metal was very thin.
Anyway, the flue was perfect and I've kept it for future reflectors.

Who doesn't like a Monday night lubing up and slipping on some rubber?

Got the fork tubes back from plating and they look great.
I used Dynasurf in the end and they did a great job including straightening the tubes which when I checked them were both bent, but under 1mm.
I originally sent them to Brook Suspension but they wanted to charge an additional £110 for straightening.
Total cost from Dynasurf was £220 including return postage and they did them in less than three weeks.
Yesterday I rebuilt the forks and got a lot done.
Popped the engine in this morning, top end will need to come off for cleaning up and a lick of paint.
I had the fork outer nuts zinc plated as an experiment and unless someone pointed it out I don't think anyone would know.

Getting close to completion.
Top end blasted and sprayed.
Had my first BBQ today, had to cut it short when the oil fire was getting out of hand, but it did the job.
Used the blowtorch to clean up the baffle and spark arrestor.
Painted the exhaust with PJ1 Satin Black as recommended by Syted and it looks great.
A few more pics and a couple of videos.
First start (without the exhaust)
First ride since rebuild
