Me too!  I'm very disappointed this one didn't work out, it's a nice bike in good condition but if I can't title it, I can't ride it and I'm not looking for garage art...

Tony I hate that you are having a hard time. I guess I’m lucky Tennessee is easy  all you need is the VIN number if comes back clean you leave the DMV with a
plate and a title will be mailed to you.

Thanks Wes, if it wasn't for the fact that the (I was going to say previous owner lol), had it registered in Vermont it would have most likely been doable but Florida has flagged anything to do with Vermont as possible fraud. They said I needed to have a Vermont registration with a Vermont address on it, only had a Florida address on it, and then I had to have some Florida agency do a vin check even though I had a Police report that already had the vin check.

I often wonder if paying the bean counter to keep track of serial numbers generates income from finding stolen property?
I’ll go out and twist the throttle on my RT2 now…

I'm curious if the bike has current Vermont registration?

(Vermont closed the "out of state" loophole for new registrations nearly two years ago...  I'm wondering if you had Vermont registration and a non-Vermont address if they allowed you to keep the Vermont registration after they closed the loophole for new registrations? )

The trick was that Vermont does not title older vehicles so your Vermont registration would be accepted as a title in a state (like Nevada) that requires titles on older vehicles.  And yeah, Florida was the first and maybe only state that required a Vermont address on the registration to get a Florida title before the loophole was even closed.

I suspect it might not be a complete dead end since it's "suspected" fraud and doesn't mean the vehicle was stolen or anything nefarious...  but probably not worth the fight.  I know I wouldn't attempt it.

Good morning Mark, yes it has a Vermont registration but like I mentioned Florida requires that the registration have a Vermont address on it and since it doesn't and he doesn't know anyone in Vermont to use their address then for anyone here in Florida it is a dead issue for them. Perhaps someone in another state could do it, the bike is a nice bike, I'm really not happy it didn't work out but hopefully in a week or so I'll have better news.

Well the saga continues, the individual whom sold me the bike that I can't title or register refuses to take it back and paypal will not help either so I'm stuck with a bike that as far as I can tell is going to be garage art, unless someone has any ideas on how I can get this thing titled. I have however in the meantime made a deal for another RT3, that I will honor my commitment to buy since I have honor! I know there's going to be some that disagree with me about wanting my money back and that's fine, just keep your opinions to yourself, they are not helpful...

Is the VT reg. signed over to you or blank and will Fl. take it if it's a VT reg. with a VT. address?

The issue Florida is having is the registration has a Florida address on it and not a VT address.  The person whom sold it to me has never lived in VT and doesn't know anyone whom does.  I've done some searches on how to title and register a bike with just a bill of sale here in FL and everything I've read says that I need a bill of sale, which I have, and a document from law enforcement showing the bike is not stole, which I have that too...
