Guessing a bit, that two resistors is 10,000 ohms plug & cap included but would have thought a good mag would do it ok. Did you have an overly wide gap on the resistor plug. As i say--guessing a bit, or a lot. Can just wriggle the bare lead over a plug top thread to try thus having no resistance depending if a resistance plug or not.

I'll try the non-resitor plug with the resistor cap. Thank you

I'll give this a try, also. This could be the answer, as the black wire in between the coil and and stator lead wire could be bad. Thanks again!

RT325, I tried the wire direct from stator to the Ignition coil. Solid connections, clean points and gap is right. Non resistor plug, also. No luck with having spark. I might try a different ignition coil. Out of ideas for now.

Out of ideas myself without being there. You say stator restored, what did that involve?, is there a clue there maybe. Can you get an open & shut difference in resistance between open & closed, not sure how that goes on a digital meter, i use old style analogue meter on low resistance & can see an obvious but not great difference in needle movement. Pics of the stator would be good of front & back. Black wire possibly has a branch wire going nowhere & should be left alone & don't earth it. Is it shorting out behind the stator, or joined to the wrong wire & heading up a lighting coil wire. Can you see the points opening & closing looking through the flywheel window. Sorry just plucking ideas out of the air & probably been covered before. Is it an original plug coil, not a two wire dc coil by mistake.

RT325, Attached are two pics of my stator. My coil is a new replacement single wire, but the wire has shrink tubing on it and not sure how solid a connection that is. Point gap is .around .016, plug gap at. 024. Haven't done additional digital meter tests yet. Black wire lead from stator is direct to the coil wire as of now. Thank you.

Pic won't expand up clear but looks like new. when you load the pics make sure you hit insert then submit i think it is. Someone will know but i just do it subconsiously. Think insert then submit or stay small. No biggy but be good to have a close big clear look . Thanks.

If the points gap is "around" .016, maybe it's actually a bit wider and that's an issue? My CT-1 won't run if it's around .017, and has bad response and stalls if it's around .011. The "Goldilocks" zone seems to be .013 for me. At around .015 it begins to knock when backing off the throttle, and cruising with no load. No advance on mine, thank God :o)
To set timing, I just set a point gap and go for a ride, and see how she runs.
