Did some tail light wiring today. Replaced a few bullet connectors and made an extension. Found out my tail light bulb seat was 180 degrees off causing brake light to illuminate when the lights are turned on. Fixed this.
See first image below. For those that don't know, the seat of the bulb can be installed 180 degrees off though when looking at it, the tabs are different sizes. 

Where do you guys get your bullet connectors at? These came from cycle terminal . They are high quality connectors. Always looking for good resources.

For terminals etc, from the US I've used Vintage Connections. In the UK, Kojaycat for specialised items and a couple of fleabay sellers for common parts.

DEET in the US sells great silver/grey replacement sheathing, and here in the UK I get the black stuff from Yambits, although the colour isn't quite right. 

Those locating bits are a different width so you can't fit them half a turn out. Did you manage to fit it wrong as in theory shouldn't be possible.

The KDI Repro Foot pegs fit perfectly. They were 2mm smaller diameter but went on tight without stretching w/water to lube the pegs for install.

EvapoRust before and after. Did a great job on the brake lever arm. I've tested it on some other very rusted parts and may post up later.

today, decided to finish up the oil and fuel tanks. I ended up having to repaint from a while back.

For reference, if you go back a few posts, you will see the original tank conditon and body work.
today, repainted.

Paint Info: Shopline JBPX1 5396 PPG Nissan DS2 Sierra Pine w/Shopline JR555 reducer (medium). Think it was 85F today, was a bit outside the window of that reducer. Mixed 1:1

Paint Gun: Purple harbor freight, HVLP, 35 psi (as recommend by paint mfg), medium fan, full paint volume.
Clear Coat: JC830 Clearcoat w/JH8380 clear hardener. Mixed 4:1
Got the idea for color from user mdscott, though I'm not sure if his paint was tinted further to match or not.

3 coats base and 3 coats clear. Not sure if I should have, but the decals are on the base coat layer, sealed with clear.
I am not very good at applying those decals, so I got them as straight as I could. Where there were wrinkles, the clear appears to have ~mostly sealed them. I do need to let it harden to buff.

I have a new site glass for the oil tank. Can someone recommend the best way to install that part? I'm guessing its going to be tight. Was thinking heat glass rubber slightly and lube.

Todays Mods including repairing a broken mount for the exhaust.

There is an 8mm x35mm bolt that is supposed to go here, but to my surprise no threads.


Well after grinding on this thing carefully, I found a broken piece of the bolt
with an what appears as an "easy out" broken off in it.




Cleaned it up a bit using a step bit.


Welded an 8mm flange nut in the hole w/flange side up. Not the ultimate way I wanted the repair to go as the flange shifts the angle of mount slightly. But, I did make some provision for this by opening up the hole around the top to allow some seating of the flange.
