So the carb seems to be a headache as it is not matched to the engine. So would like to consider the spigot to flange adaptor and an alternative carb. There are a lot of modern carbs on the internet for £40 (uk).

Anybody fitted the above to a D1? I just don't want this project to cost a fortune due to buying very expensive original parts, and becoming an unusable bike due to the cost.

Interestingly it looks like they've had an air balance pipe between the forks now blanked off. Caps maybe aftermarket but forks & triples look like mine in one of my above links to pics, I think. My guess for the day. Also press that brass worm on in the correct position for the cable. Sorry I'm sure ya all under control.

OK, so second time round trying to do an update on here flitting between image link photo apps and everything else (admin, stop stipuating people have to log in every 30 mins or so because it really doesn't give people time to create a cognative post).

So today I have done a little more investigative work on the bike.
The Oil pump had clearly had the cable cut to the engine, but it looks like water had ingressed in and filled up the compartment. The area was worrying to say the least

Water contamination in the Oil pump compartment

However, It looks like the seal to the engine had held up, and there shouldn't have been an issue with the rest of the engine.

To be fair the casing came up pretty well after a little work on the inside and out..

Exhaust has been removed and to be fair its in pretty good nick with a decent amount of metal in all areas. A, little going over with the wire brush and a low grade sandpaper gave a good key for some rust eater

I'm pretty accute on not spending anything more on this build unless absolutely necessary. I used to go full on spend, spend with the illusion that i was going to have the bike of my dreams. Today, its a toy I hope i can enjoy, and others can appreciate.

This site doesn't require you to log in very often at all.  Make sure you are checking the "remember me" box when you log in as that might be a factor?  If I wait way too long to "submit"...  like hours...  sometimes it loses my post but it doesn't make me log in.

Otherwise it might be a browser or device issue?

P.S.  Nice pictures!  What you're seeing is why I learned to remove the oil pump and ignition covers after washing the bike.

Have to admit.  Logging on  to this site is a complete PITA.  Sometimes you can stay logged on for a week, othertimes it is a couple of hours.

That's interesting.  I've been here since soon after the site started and I stay logged in forever, UNLESS I don't check the "remember me" box which always unchecks itself.  I'm using Firefox mainly and Safari sometimes.

It used to log me out too even when using remember me so I started using remember me first and then log in and it worked for me. I also usually use my iPhone Safari. I will now stay logged in for months
