Hi there,
I'm Andy and am new here from the UK.

Yesterday I made a purchase of a bike that I know little about. My history with Yamaha dates back as far as the late 80s where I first owned an RS100, swiftly followed by a DT100 and on to 175MX, RDLC, DTLC etc etc. In the 90s I got a vespa scooter and its only the last 4 years or so that I got back into bikes with the purchase of an XS400 Cafe Racer. However, I still longed for the sound and excitement of another 2 stroke.

So I liased with a person on Facebook Marketplace and long story short I ended up buying a bike that is RT chassis, and D1 Engine. The bike is an import but has the NOVA for the chassis so hoping to get it sorted and on the road in time. I need to ask advice right from the off so will do so in the relevant forum area. But for now this is just a quick hello :)

Andy

Welcome from NZ down under. My DT1 has an RT1 frame but they're the same. Mine is a piston port inlet 1970 ("68-"71) motor. Not sure on the frame year without checking the numbers but just a parts bike of bits I had at the time long ago. Is yours piston port or reed valve inlet as Yamaha in their wisdom used RT1& DT1 prefix from the beginning to "73-I think!!. If yours has reed inlet it should be "72or "73. Enjoy your time here.

Cool, she's an early one then.
I like those ones. I won't show you my rough old dog just yet--you'll fall over laughing.
But be great to see yours sometime though.
To have an RT1 frame it must be a tubular swinging arm.
I'm cursing the day i scrapped my square arm frame as broke it many times.
DT1 frames had the square arm from "68 to "70 from what i remember but happy to be, umm, re-educated.
