Thanks for letting me in the gates. I will be bringing to DT's back to life soon. 1970 DT125 w/gyt kit in a box, 1978 DT400. Both have been sitting in a barn for over 35 years. Looking for information and probably parts.
Looking forward to getting these running again. Let the games begin

Hello, here from Chicago IL despite the username
I work on bikes of my own, only the 4 stroke variety.
my buddy has a 71 RT360 (black/red) that he has owned for years and years, mostly languishing in the back of a shop for the years i've known him. Last year he rebuilt it, refinished the frame, tank, fenders, motor, new top end, new control cables.... a lot of work. looks pretty sharp. he's got all sorts of experience with bikes, owned at least 50 of them over the past 25 years, i would assume.

we've kinda hit an impasse with the machine, though, i presume ignition.
i have lots of patience for internet forums, and have been blessed with all sorts of wisdom through them, so i come searching for answers, and to share our trials.

i will start my own thread for the bike soon.
thanks for being an active group, i have learned a lot from reading over the past couple months.

Replied by Jackie O on topic And just who do you think you are?

Hi guys, I just want to introduce myself...

My name is Jackie and together with my husband we run a small Yamaha parts online shop. I don't want this to be a sales pitch, basically we love the classic bikes and happened to come across a business proposition where we could sell Yamaha rubber parts as a retailer. We know that most of you can probably clean up the main bike parts and source out the nuts and bolts, but it is had to manufacture at home the all important obsolete rubber dampers, grommets, bushings, footrest rubbers etc. that make riding the bike pleasure not pain! And that is where we come in.
So far we are concentrating on Yamaha parts only with hope to expand to other Japanese brands in future, thus the name of our company Sumo Rubber (sumorubber.com)

All that I'm expecting from joining your forum is monitor the market to see what parts you guys need so we can see if we can get them reproduced and added to the stock, with the odd help if anyone is looking for something we already have. So if you are struggling to find a rubber part for your classic bike, please get in touch!

Thank you. Jackie

Replied by Andy Young on topic And just who do you think you are?

Hi all, I am Andy Young, live in Staffordshire UK, currently restoring a Yamaha IT 175G, also own a XT225 Serow or i did until my wife took up riding about 5 years ago. I raced Motocross in the late 70's and early 80's, have always owned bikes, I always wanted an IT175 in the day but it never came to pass. My bike is recent import from the USA its obviously from a dry state and has not done much, original pipe with no dings, very little wear on the controls. However it is missing the original headlight and speedo, i can get a Preston Petty or Acerbis light but cannot find an original, also struggling to find a suitable speedo, will keep looking. looking forward to being a part of this form.
