Tiny square within squares, but they're all there. Pretty green and gritty inside. I'm ready to give everything a good soak now.

Soaked for 8 hours, blew it out, new O-rings, gasket and set float properly - re used all the other parts. Reinstalled and starts on 1st kick now. Starts, idles and runs amazingly well.

Now I just need to find a headlight. I was surprised all of the others actually burn. Even the indicator bulb for turn signals works. I turned them off after realizing they worked so I wouldn’t blow them without the headlight.

Rimneck, I bought an Octane headlight assembly on amazon. It has a 6V H4 halogen bulb and I like it because it matches up to the plug in the headlight housing and it is replaceable. From my time back in the early 70's I knew the 6V headlight bulbs blew often if I revved my DT1's up, so I used a 12V bulb in my 69 and it was dimmer but lasted forever. Since I don't plan on riding at night I have installed a 12V H4 halogen bulb in mine and it is plenty bright. Here in Florida we have to run with the headlights on. I guess I could get one of the regulators and then install the 6V bulb and I may get around to that, but for now it works great. Love your bike! Go ride it, they don't like sitting around!

After 55 gallons of elbow grease and want to, shiny things are shiny again.

I'll try to attach a service bulletin from Yamaha on troubleshooting headlight issues... different from the regulator bulletin in the Tech Library. This one should be there soon too... I submitted it recently.

Thanks for that info Mark. I’m betting it was blown due to dead battery. All of the other lights work, but the headlight is black and milky. I’m coming up with a lot of dead ends when trying to find a 6v 35/35w sealed beam.
