Nope. It uses your OG yamaha flywheel keyed. In my case FOTO2173 flywheel. The stator plate is fixed with three countersunk screws. No need to have a slotted adjustment if it's dead on to yamaha spec.

Ok, sounds good. So at 2.9 it will kick back as that's its running btdc setting.
So if its not designed to retard for kicking then 'so be it'--just kick it hard right from the top of the kick stroke & use the decomp.
In saying that--the de-compressor is kick operated--if its actually working & letting off a bit of comp.
Look forward to hearing it runs, & how it runs.

Just to add--the original system retarded for kicking with that troublesome two stage pulser green/red & white/red.
Worked good too--till it didn't!!.
I know you had no stator with the bike--just saying.

The decomp does work. Would be nice if this ignition would have the retard built in. I'll have to get some bigger boots!
I was going to look for a Yamaha stator because everything else was there. I just went aftermarket bc I read on here that the CDI was problematic.
I'll get running, even if I have to tow it.
I wish this had electric start like my AT1.

CDI do have a "retard"
They need approx. 1.3v from the trigger coil(pulser). The slower the RPM the longer it takes to build up to 1.3 volts(thus retard)
After 2-3KPM or so the delay is so little, one cannot measure.

I thought the RSS ignition triggers from the source coil? I cant see a trigger coil shown on the pics? Does the retard at high RPM feature also involve the trigger coil?

In my experience, a 360 or 400 that kicks back regularly has timing too far advanced. Period. End of story.
Modern fuels are different and I find the 400 runs perfect with timing slightly retarded from stock and will never kick back. At stock setting, sometimes you'll get a kick back but usually only if someone is wildly kicking away and hasn't brought the engine to TDC and given it a nice solid follow through.

Getting interesting now even if i don't understand it well. & going by what AUTOMAN says--if you spun it slowly with drill on real slow it should show the retard as still needs to be fast enough to spark but maybe a lot slower than CLEGG was spinning it [my fault for saying 'spin it' maybe].
Could get someone to turn it over by hand on the kickstart with plug out [but earthed] & should still flash the strobe & show it if happening nearer tdc than your 2.9 mark.
Doesn't really matter but could be interesting that's all.
