Sorry #20 but his has the splined pressure plate so pics don't show that until1976. Cheers. ps, look back at his first pics on page one shows what he has. I wonder if someone's fitted a complete clutch off something else like a 100cc. Highly unlikely--but.

Good morning #21, the 76 diagram still shows the washer in the same place but has it as #3.

i'm looking lol. Agreed number 3 is needed but his holds the hub too far out for the last plate to be in the fingers so something is way wrong or mismatch of parts 'i think'. The pic in post #20 No3 is actually a face bearing like a DT1 has. Bearing Flat they call it. I'll sleep on it. But yes need something to keep the hub away from the basket. Good morning & good night.

Here's the diagram for the 76 DT175, as you can see #3 is in the same place as #4 in first diagram.

Sorry, yep ya right & fully agree it needs something there, but to do 'that', he's going to run out of room for the finger of the last fiber in to be safely located in the basket. I give up--well nearly give up lol. Are there part numbers or model number codes on the hub & basket that denote the bike model to be sure its all original.

I agree with what you're saying RT325 but I have to wonder if there isn't dead space in there that the washer takes up.  one way to find out is to put washer in there and see what ya get, only takes a few minutes and diagram show's it's supposed to be there so I'd go with that, if fiber is out too far then there is something else wrong.

Yep he had the washer in as it should be but then his pic early on shows the fibre plate ears hardly engaging in the basket. So sort of looks like the plate stack is too thick. I just came back to link a random ebay set of plates that says 4mm thick so 20mm stack. How's that compare with yours OP? when you have a moment. I did find a set on ebay but lost it now & said 3mm thick--which would give you 5mm less overall stacked thickness which would be good in this case. Can't copy & paste link, won't let me. Try ebay
304452112220 these might stack up same as yours of course so nothing to gain. Are your steels original not aftermarket thicker than normal--doubt that.

Not anywhere near an expert (probably couldn't even be called a novice), but I'd agree that the fibers are too thick.  That washer was put there for a reason by old man Yamaha so it really needs to be there!

I'm curious as to what the exact problem is with the clutch?

What is the VIN on the engine?

As asked, what are any numbers you can see on clutch basket, hub, pressure plate?

What is the thickness of each friction disc?

Can you post a picture of the shaft the clutch fits on or tell us what diameter it is?

You might have mismatched parts.  It looks suspiciously like a 1976 which had a smaller shaft and thinner discs.
