Definitely do it yourself, plenty of knowledge here if you get stuck.
You'll need a flywheel holding tool too.
I have one like this and it's fine  www.amazon.co.uk/Spanner-Adjustable-Flyw...&smid=A3J684ZPRFOOU3

I’ve just purchased a flywheel removal puller and it should be delivered tomorrow. I have a flywheel holding tool (I think)

Does anyone know the gap setting? And also do you know if there are timing marks or just get it to TDC?

Points gap 0.3mm - 0.4mm
Timing 1.8mm B.T.D.C.

I still think you need to pull the flywheel and check that the crank seal is still in correctly.
My CT1-B (The Greenie) was running sweet as anything and easy to start until it wasn't because the mag side crank seal had pushed out.

Here's the service manual, which should help you.

Good luck

Thought i said check the crank key at the start of this issue, so gotta be done. Yep post #7 so lets know. Sorry, that sounds a bit grumpy--i'll re-phrase--i'll stick to my guess of crank key & hope that's all it is. & check the crank seal while ya in that area incase its popped out of the case although the back of the plate might sit close enough to stop that--guessing.

Pete as always thank you, and thank you for the link.

 Update:

points cleaned and set and it goes like hot snot.
thank you everyone for your input and help. This is how I expected the bike to go, revs through all gears and doesn’t stop. Before it maxed at 50mm and it now pulls straight past that.

RT325 the woodruff key hadn’t slipped just the points plate.

Great news!

However it looks like you're missing he felt lubricator block. It's above the green mark in this picture. It keeps the cam lubricated so the rubbing block on the points doesn't wear down.

Tom can you purchase these and just fit them or do you require the full coil set?

I think you would be able to just buy the felt wick, but I haven't looked yet. It might come as an assembly with the little bracket it goes into. If it's not available, maybe there's a way to improvise one?

I just checked, and every place I looked it's unavailable. It's number 11 in this diagram, part number 207-81331-10-00
