Cigarette filter. Strip the paper off and trim as needed with a razor blade or exacto knife. Slip it into the slot on your bracket and pinch it tight with pliers. You can use Toms photo for the required end result. Not that I’ve ever done it.

Maybe just pick up some felt at the hardware store, cut a strip and roll it up Until it's the right size? I'd also scour the garage and make sure didn't fall out somewhere.

Great news, they go good the old 175's. you say points plate do you mean the points screw retaining the points was loose or the stator plate retaining screws as they look pretty overused.

Hi yes it definitely brought a smile to my face.

yes sorry the points screw not the stator plate. As you can tell, I’ve got a job on my hands if I need to remove the stator plate, those screws have had it.

Well last update:

a beautiful day today so I took the old girl out for a test ride this morning. I covered about 30-40 miles and it ran without any issues. I forgot how fun these little things were.

I bought one from Amazon, it was only £16, it just had to be a 27mm left hand thread.
