When setting the timing... is it just as well to pull the head off the jug? I see "thru the plug hole" scenarios... but my thinking sez, its at an angle and the measurement may be wrong..
Then I can scape carbon whilst the top is exposed...
I get a fair amount of oil dripping from the tranny when its parked on the kick stand... Throw a hunk of 4"X4" under it... and it slows way down...
That'll be for next spring... pre ride stuff to do... Old cracked tires... who knows how the brakes look...
My 50 year old friend needs almost as much attention as my 60 year old frame... ooyy..

As soon as you start an enduro without a battery connected you blow a $100 headlight bulb. It can be dead. But connected, will save all the bulbs

Today, I have a license plate!! All great, eh? raining so I'll delay my bit longer ride about... I wonder when the last time this old bike has had an hour long ride...
So now the owner sez this isn't the original fuel tank... I'll go looking to see what its suppose to be... What very little I can get from the steering head sticker.. Feb. 1972..

Did 10 miles on it today... Top end is about 50 MPH... It does have an extremely large rear sprocket... I'll put that on the "to do" list this coming spring...
It had good pulling ability... but really seemed way too rich when you'd try just a cruising speed... at about 5K RPM's.... It just kinda blubbered along... First option is going to be a new air filter... foam.. The one on it looks like someone took a 1970's era sofa cushion... carved a slit in it to fit over the metal baffle... Then proceeded to trim the outside down with a scissor to get it to fit in the airfliter can... A bit restrictive in my eyes..
Was fun to run it... see what is going on..

Pulled a similar looking filter out of a 'long parked up' DX100--YB100 single the other day. Filter looked all lumpy but touched it & it fell apart, was rotten. Someones gone to a lot of trouble to make yours. I guess it must've worked ok if it flowed enough air. Must be a cushion somewhere with a hole in it lol. Actually i've got one & quite comfy to sit on at the computer.

The original factory filter is still available from Yamaha .
Some have found Unifilter replacements a bit restrictive .

I've got a big wool sock without a mate... I put it on... able to get about 3 layers, a little WD-40 sprayed on it... I'll test it out..
I'll find an actual foam, now that I know the size...

Sneezles, what's the score with the tank then ?
Is it just the design or totally different like the RT1 or off another model ?
RT 2s are plain coloured with Yamaha sticker on there and the 3s have the sweeping stripe but the same thing . I know you probably know that .
