Cool. I'd like to hear about your results.
I used short bursts of flame from a propane torch into the inner cap well.
Gradually pushed the socket in; the process took about 20 minutes.

I apparently don't have enough patience or a small enough torch. I could only get a very small amount of expansion before it started to distort the threads. Possibly mine was shrunk smaller. I was able to apply a little flexible gasket compound to the threads to finish the seal but, I am not sure I am happy with that solution. I will probably go with the replacment cap. It won't be the first non-stock part on my bike.

Hi
I have a cap thats shrunk and rattles about in te hole. This happened when i forgot to pit rhe cap back on the tank and the bike stood for 10 weeks, then it would not fit when i discovered the cap was not on.
is it possible to soak the cap in a chemical to swell it back to size?
I cannot see the link to the chinese cap mentioned, anyone have this please as i would like to look at it
thanks
Gary

Spoke too soon, they are out of stock and so are Fowlers.
Maybe, try your local Yamaha dealer.

This might be the one you were after Cap
