not sure on that, besides the DT 250,360 and 400s,it is listed to fit the TY250. I will need to find a way to weigh the stock DT400 flywheel and the Power Dynamo one. they do sell a lighter flywheel and they offer it in their kits and likely you can also purchase the lighter flywheel separately.

the flywheel is much smaller in circumference than the original stock flywheel. I can't say it feels lighter but it does have some weight to it.
having handled the parts, they do seem to be very high quality.

Edit: after handling the 2 different flywheels back to back, the flywheel on the Power Dynamo feels lighter. the flywheel is about the same size and weight the extra flywheel I have for a 1979 Honda CR250R has. it should rev pretty quick but still have enough inertia to allow good low rpm power.

for comparison, the flywheel on the 1979 CR250R is a good deal heavier than the rotor on my 1975 CR250M1. the 1975 model has very zappy throttle response, the 1979 model is not as zappy but it still revs quickly and it has way more bottom end than the 1975 CR engine.

in truth the 1979 CR250 model has more power everywhere but it is gearing limited compared to the 1975 model CR250.

first order of business was cleaning up the threads on the flywheel puller.

I think I found the timing mark on the stator,it is in the same location the red mark in a divot on the older Power Dynamo stator plates was. before firing it up,I need to check this with a timing light to make sure. this is where I set the timing mark on the flywheel with the crankshaft position at 2.7 mm BTDC.

once the crankshaft is in the right position, put the flywheel back on with the crank in the right position and the white line on the flywheel lining up with the mark on the stator, then install and carefully tighten the nut without rotating the crankshaft any at all. snug it down good then you can lay on the torque. be sure to check it with a timing light once the engine is ready. I will kick it through and observe the timing marks with the timing light before starting the engine.

this is a video testing the ignition system.

one difference I saw already is I don't have to kick it through as briskly as I do with the DT400 with the bone stock Mitsubishi ignition system to get spark. my stock DT400,you really have to spin it to get spark. I may upgrade that puppy too once I go through the engine on that one.

That is one heck of a spark. You got the whole system through HVC?

I got it through the Power Dynamo shop in Berlin Germany.
www.powerdynamo.eu/shop/show_product.php...v0p5ne823asfjdclcjm1

I browsed HVC and they don't seem to carry them.

it is a good time to pick one up,the Euro is a little weaker to the dollar in current exchange rates and they may even give you the re seller's discount like I got. from what I have seen so far,I would have no trouble recommending them.

I plan to get a second one for the other DT400. I need to test it's lighting power. it is 180 watts so it is a huge upgrade over the stock Mitsubishi ignition system. it is not a performance upgrade as they say but I say it will make starting much easier and the engine should run better due to the much much hotter spark.

The goodies from Ebay showed up today. I got a MX400B carb boot,A speedo trip knob for the 1974-76 instruments and a quart of Yamalube 2S.

I need to snap a few pics of the instruments going on this bike. it is raining and I will get those later. basically I need to pick out the best gauge cans then get new speedo and tach face decals and repaint the bracket.

that carb boot will also fit the IT400,YZ400 and also the YZ465,490 and the IT versions of those bikes too and even the IT425.

there is a seller on Ebay selling them. this is where I got the trip knob. the seller is DT400Man and he is a great seller. I had bought many items from this seller and he has yet to ever do me wrong, the shipping too was very fast.

I ordered these items on Ebay at the same time I ordered the Power Dynamo Ignition and these 3 items came a day later than the Power Dynamo. it says a lot about the people at Power Dyanamo! these guys are indeed on the ball as the 3 I bought these items from is in the USA and Power Dynamo is in Berlin Germany, the Power Dynamo got here first!

I did not post a pic on the Power Dynamo installed on the engine. here it is!

It could make more overall power due to the greater spark energy. Is the gap on the plug set bigger than stock. I remember switching the wires on my Dodge van to racing 8mm copper core. The engine was a stock 225 slant 6. The copper wires made a great improvement in crispness of throttle and a little more rev happy and power.

I think this ignition would have no problem firing a .035" gap and I plan to run the plug gap there.

my 1978 DT175 plug gap is set there and it has no trouble firing it. the stock ignition on that bike is a very strong one and it is a stock Hitachi ignition system on that one.

the new ignition system is way stronger than the stock Mitsubishi system could even dream of.

It's good to see someone else going this route. I did this about 4 years ago at a cost of 337 euros (I still have the bill). Ya my wife says I'm a pack rat and never throw anything away.

The package they sent me had a small direction booklet. I'd suggest you print off the info on the web site for this set up. It'll be larger so easier to read and there is a schematic that is very helpful. In fact I was stumped at how to connect the new stuff to the bike until I found the schematic on the web site.

I read the instructions, both the ones online and the instructions in the package. it is not hard at all to install this system once you start installing it. the operation was successful as I ran it today and it ran pretty good, the timing is not quite right and the carb is a little on the rich side but it had very good throttle response. there is a video and I uploaded it to Youtube and I will make a post with pictures on getting this ready to run.
