@Storbeck yes I'm happy to send the fork springs to you, please just message me. I think someone could make some dual-rate spring sets out of these by mixing in other softer springs. This website shows some bikes that have 34mm forks and the Race Tech site lists stock spring rates for some of them (some it just says "TOO SOFT!").

Anyways, I can't find any ebay springs right now near the .44 rate Race Tech is suggesting so I may just bite the bullet and get the Race Techs. I should spend some money with them anyways since I'm using their website so much

Cannon Racecraft in OK is a great resource for springs and advice on what you need, just call them. I've always been happy with their products.

Just an update, I did a 1000 mile ride in Colorado on the RT3 last week. Had 1 stock fork spring and one XS650 fork spring and it seemed spot on for my 180lbs with 30lbs of luggage.
I also had some NOS RedWing shocks on it (check ebay, someone is selling them for $99 and has loads of them) and they worked really well. Rarely bottomed, damping seemed fine for what I was doing (gravel roads, rocky stuff, moderate pace).
I'd definitely go this route again for a low cost solution that works pretty well all things considered.

Good to hear the Redwings are back... a few years ago they used to be the "go to" for many with tons of NOS on ebay... then they became scarce for a while.
