RT 2 clutch slipping issue was created by Grumman41

When I bought my RT 2 it had been sitting for some time and the clutch was stuck. I took it apart and cleaned everything, inspected and put it back together. All parts appeared to be there and in good condition after cleaning.
i finallly got a test ride in yesterday and had some clutch slippage under hard acceleration. I adjusted the clutch at the lever so it had free play, the clutch seems to engage and disengage normally.
Is there another adjustment or will I have to  replace everything in the clutch basket?

If the clutch friction plates are original (or old) they may look good but still slip especially under hard acceleration. The 360 puts more strain on the clutch than the 250. If I go to the trouble of pulling the clutch pressure plate off I usually replace the friction plates with Yamaha # 5Y1-16331-01 and springs with # 90501-20124.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

There is another adjustment. Manuals are in the Tech Library here.

As member 1971dt250 mentioned ealier. Looks is deceiving when it comes to clutch parts. Always replace the friction plates and clutch springs if there 30 + years old. Then at least make sure all the metal plates are clean and measure straight. If warped replace them too. There is another adjustment under the little 2 screw cover on the shifter side engine cover.

Incorrect gearbox oil can also lead to a slipping clutch.

If its original it could have the rubber spreaders under each fiber so disgard them although aftermarket fibers may not have room for them to sit under which is ok. Fibers glaze up & any roughing up will only be a temporary cure. There's an actuator center adjuster on the left cover but if its got clearance at the H/bar lever you likely have down below. To prove that just get a socket onto the locknut & see if any free movement before it pushes the rod. If preloaded then crack it free & give it an 1/8 turn of free & see if it helps slippage. But my guess is still new fibers sorry.

Sounds like I should have put new clutch disks in while breaking it free earlier! Any clutch disks, plates and springs that are recommended? I maintain my stuff very well but wouldn’t say I’m easy on clutches.

Will do, thanks.
What do you guys recommend on clutch plates (metal plates) and spring cushions? I had to clean the metal plates previously do to a stuck clutch issue from sitting, they appear flat and fairly decent although they did have some build up before cleaning. The cushions are intact but seem but have lost some flex.

Since this is my second trip into the clutch I’m leaning towards replacing everything? I’m not seeing the spring cushions available?
