CT3 Gas Tank Fill Port was created by Phatsalmon
Can anyone tell me is there is a way to fix the fuel filler port on a CT3 Gas Tank. Has anyone tackled this problem. This tank is in excellent condition with the exception of the fuel tank cap "ears" missing. I have other tanks but none in this good condition. Can the fill port be removed and one from another tank installed? Just looking for suggestions from people who have seen this before. Please look at the picture for detail

I have done it without issue, filled the tank with water up to the neck while welding as gas fumes can puff back sometimes .
Replaced completely
No problem warping that day/ possibly because the metal is already quite stressed there

How did you remove the port from the old tank without damaging it? Thanks for the info on this one. Is the port welded or soldered?

My go to tool for cutting thin metal without distorting is the air powered 4” cutoff wheel. It don’t have to be cut in a circle. Octagon works.
Replacement was a lot of work. It’s not soldered
Thinking about this further now / you may be able to replace just the “ears” by tig welding. Or if good at sculpture build up some weld and shape with a Dremel
