Clutch Cover Lettering Paint Detail was created by Snglsmkr

Here's a nit-picky question about how Yamaha painted the recessed letters cast into the side covers on bikes like the 1974 250s & 360s.

Did the factory paint only the bottom of the recessed letters or were the sides painted as well?

I would wonder how they didn’t get paint on the “walls” of the recessed letters. I’ll say the floor and walls are painted. Easy enuff to remove paint from the top, of it gets a bit sloppy.

I use Testors enamel paint marker in gloss black (Testors EPM25-2547), worked well on my Yamaha DT3 engine cases with recessed letters.
Got this tip from Greg French many years ago.
Good luck!!

I started with Testors but have switched to Sharpies Paint Pens. Different size tips.
