can't find this vin was created by nutman
Hi All,
I recently bought a 1975 DT125. Colour yellow.
It's matching numbers but has a 171cc cylinder fitted.
The vin is starting with the first 3 numbers 578-000***
Does anyone knows a bit more about this series?
Thanks.

That number equates to the 1976 DT125C model for "Others" (so not USA). Whereabouts in the world are you?
Frames are often manufactured, and date stamped, for the year before the model year they are actually for (causes a little amusement here in the UK, where registration numbers are age related).

I'm in Australia. Must be an Australian version? I did see one advertised online here in Australia that looked similar.
The date on the vin plate is 10/75.
When I tried to find out what the exact model would be I suspected it to be a 1976 DT125C model as well but that doesn't seem to be.
It seems to be a DT175C. However, fitted with a smaller cylinder and some yellow parts. The rear wheel is lighter build than a DT175C.
Does anyone knows if the bottom end is actually a D175 bottom?

Very easy and common to install a 175 top end on a 125. Straight parts swap. So you likely have a 125 that someone made into a 175.

As Alan says "That number equates to the 1976 DT125C model for "Others" (so not USA)."
Maybe a JDM model.
