DTMX wheel in DTF? was created by CursingThomas

Hi, anyone know if a DTMX wheel can fit inside a DTF fork with the original DTF brakes? I am running into the problem where the brake plate is not getting lodged properly in my fork. But maybe instead of getting a whole new wheel, which are hard to find, i can just get a brake plate to make it fit again?

I believe the author is asking about a 1F9 model (non-USA kickstart only) DT125F (twinshock) compared to a later DT125MX (monoshock).

Pictures of the issue would help a lot.

RT325, I first thought the same thing...  your replies were spot on considering the way the question and topic is worded.

I just happened to remember that CursingThomas recently posted questions and pictures about a non-US DT125F twin shock.

Hi guys, sorry for the inconvenience. Markt is exactly right, non USA kickstart model. Pictures provided below. The second is the brake plate I think fits my model. But this is ambigious.
Alongside the fitting brake plate, which is too shallow and does not get caught by the front fork. Basically making my whole wheel spin like a maniac, and no solid point to brake off off. Bit of a vague story, but I hope it makes sense.

Anyways, complete wheels are pretty hard to find. not to mention pretty expensive. My question is; can I only swap the brake plates? And leave the wrong wheel in there. My thought pattern is that the brake plate would fit perfectly in the wrong wheel, but will be thick enough to get caught by the fork. Im asking here since obviously I dont know for certain. I am not per se looking for originality right now, I just want it to work (for now). So if there are any other mods to make this work, let me know.

Thanks for the pics but i guess you'd better try your plan & then tell us the answer. Just go carefully & be sure everything turns uninhibited.
Turn the wheel over & sit the brake plate in flat on the floor then see if the plate turns free--use the axle to centralize it to turn.
just meaning to be sure the center is deep enough on the brake plate to give revolving clearance.
Then be sure the brake plate fully engages on the forks on the anchor lug.
I see the plate steps down in the anchor looking a bit like they used the same casting from back in the CT1 steel slider forks with the narrow anchor point on the forks--& then milled it wider for the later fork lug.

I was hoping the see pictures of the actual problem on your bike... sounds like a spacing problem or maybe it has different forks than it came with? Not sure if we could tell but couldn't hurt.

(Some members do have the DT125F model)

Also, I can't remember any Yamaha brake plate not having a model number cast into the underside...  2A6, 443, 559, etc.

That could help ID what you have.
