Got the Fire Back! was created by MarkC

Back in 2018 I posted about my medical condition and that I was going to have to stop riding.  After that post I got really down and lost interest in even working on my old bikes, in fact I had a bike tore down on the lift table and it went untouched until a few weeks ago.

I have a couple of buddies into custom cars and showing them, they have been hounding me to bring my 1975 collection to a show. I have been resisting but a few weeks ago I accepted an invitation to show the bikes.  The problem was they had been sitting collecting dust for almost 5 years and one was tore down.

It is amazing how excited I have become again about these old bikes, working and cleaning them up has sparked the fire back in me!  I may not be able to go on the fun long rides anymore but I am having a blast getting my hands dirty and smelling that 2 stroke exhaust!  I'll let you know how the show goes.

Good for you.

These old Yamahas are the best therapy and medicine for any ailment. A 10 mile ride is a long one for me but I'm still thankful I can. Working on them even if its just detailing is therapeutic. And taking them to a show and letting others see them is rewarding.
The hours spent riding my Enduros is not deducted from my life span.

I agree with you. I think i seen your 75 collection on facebook if it was indeed you? Nice bikes. The 75 DT250 is one of my favorite bikes to ride and one of Yamaha's best Enduro's. I keep telling myself no more, can't work on them like i use too, eye sight not as good, skill level not as good but then i find another bike or 2 and here i go again. My favorite part these days is taking the bikes to shows and events. People love seeing them and talking about old times!

Good to hear of someone getting the "fire back" and that old bikes are a good "therapy".

Any chance that you may get back to riding someday?
