Hi MarkT, I haven’t called motocarb (uk) yet, but on their website is the following information/diagrams:
it’s very confusing as it doesn’t seem to include a VM28/163 part number
However, there is a statement which refers to the diagrams having aftermarket model numbers and OEM numbers may be different. It’s so confusing.

Do not buy a chap Chinese one, utter rubbished. The claim they're from the uk . What they don't tell you is it's a storage outlet.
I had that experience.
Spend it on new jets.

I don't know anything about "Motocarb"... but that part number is a Mikuni number for the needle and seat. If they can't help you there are many Mikuni parts distributors that can... Niche Cycle in the US is my favorite. I don't know of any in the UK.

What parts of the carburettor shouldn’t go into the ultrasonic cleaner? eg floats?, o-rings?
Also, my carb is painted black. Will all/some of the paint come off it? If so, am I best stripping the paint off first? I mean chemically strip as I haven’t got a bead/shot blaster…

The ultrasonic cleaner has made a right mess of the black paint. Looks like I’ll be paint stripping it now. Not too sure if it was the heat or the ultrasonics that did it….

There is paint stripper in an aerosol can that may be better than brush applied stuff... Might melt the plastic nipple tho..

It did the same thing to mine. Probably a combo of heat and sonic vibration. I just put it back in for several more cycles and most of the paint came off. I was using simple green at one point but this time might have been straight water.
