Is it a higher serial number? I've seen a lot of 74's with the serrated pegs and I'm pretty sure they came standard starting in 75.
Could be something that a lot of owner's changed or it might be a mid-year production change.

The pegs look like MX pegs of the same year. I took of the rubber and installed the Mx pegs. If you plan on riding it Offroad you will want those, especially in we condition.
Thanks Mark

Nice find and the plastic side panels are still present!
Have a look to see whether or not the cdi is still present, or if a previous owner has changed it over to the 250 points system. If it's still cdi and you are struggling to get spark, the likely culprit is probably the pulser.

Per the previous owner he attempted to switch to points with a 1977 DT250 ignition system but learned right away that was not the correct way to go. That is the way the bike was sold to me. It has the stator plate from the 77 DT250 on it but not the flywheel. I have not yet confirmed that but the original CDI ignition is in a box of parts per previous owner. I have not yet gone thru anything. Just parked the bike and it will have to wait its turn till I can get to it
He did tell me it was running prior to trying to swap the ignition but was not running correct. The bike has been sitting for years since

Before you kick it over even once remove the mag cover and clean it out. If not you could destroy the pulser and then the fun will begin.

Personally I think the 77 DT250 ignition is an excellent way to go if you install a voltage regulator.
