oil pump worm gear cavity full of oil was created by yamahoper

Should the cavity the worm shaft is in , and the space between the crankcase seal and pump be full of injector oil or does that indicate an internal oil pump seal leak?

I agree with mdscott, bushing in case that worm shaft runs through is lubed by the Autolube oil.

Now that's something i've never thought of--if the shaft seal was faulty--& i've never had one--the oil tank oil could end up in the primary case just gravity fed. There's no pressure in the pump i think--& pressure is only in the pump stroke shaft to push it up to the cylinder. Has anyone ever had that drive shaft seal leak?, or would you even know, until the level came higher up the dip stick.

Thinking back I did have that happen, The tank emptied into the transmission.
Sometimes I wonder if I've forgotten more than I knew?
