Reeds came in. And picked up an idiot proof mixing thingy.
Ordered oil injection blockoff plate.

don't forget to read the instructions on the Boyesen reeds. there is directions on how to modify the reed cage to improve flow. they will add a bit of noticeable power and improve throttle response.

I noticed the little instruction pamphlet, havent opened it up to take a peek but i sure will! Thanks!
All the repair parts should be here next wednesday from bikebandit.
So hopefully soon i can tear in and get it all done!

Ok so its been over a year and not much has happened.
I have repaired my seat pan and recovered with an old army surplus duffle.
New feont fender and cleaned polished and painted a few bits.

Dug into the crank seals a bit tonight. Found after sitting for a year there is leakage from behind stator.
The 3 screws holding the stator on are slotted. To adjust timing. This is how its sitting now. Ill mark and reinstall in the same spot.

Can someone tell me what page timing is on in the repair manual. I need good instructions lol.
Im an automotive mechanic that works on industrial oilfield aplications. This 2 stroke stuff is very different haha

which manual? is it a Clymer's, a factory shop manual or ???? I can find out on the factory manual. this site has the official shop Yamaha shop manual in the tech downloads section.

page 14 under Timing (DT400D) in the first part of the book in maintenance also read the procedure for the DT250 on page 13 for steps 1 through 3.

basically you check and make sure the 3 lines on the flywheel, stator and cases all align at 2.9 mm BTDC.

rotate the crankshaft just almost 3 turns backwards.
